This Prairie Chicken is captured as he prepared to spar with another rooster over a nearby hen. His air sacks are partially inflated and he is about to snap his tail. The prairie chicken population has reduced significantly over the last few decades. As a result, we rarely get taxidermy mounts. The taxidermy on this mount is very good. This piece has earned our taxidermy quality rating of Excellent and would make a great addition to any room featuring North American mounts or an upland game bird collection.
