Taken in the Mexican state of Coahuila, this Carmen Mountain sub-species is a fine example of these smaller whitetails with, relatively, larger antlers. Scientific Name: Odocoileus virginianus carminis
Carmen Mountain deer occur in the Chihuahua Desert of the Trans-Pecos Carmen Mountain. These whitetail are runty forms of common whitetails and are usually found above 4,500 feet in west Texas mountains and portions of the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Coahuila.
