Originally native only to the Indian subcontinent, the Blackbuck is known for its long, ringed horns that look like tightly wound corkscrews. This particular Blackbuck is, of course, no exception. In addition to its trademark horns, this specimen has fantastic coloring: while both its underbelly and the fur around its eyes are snow white, the rest of its body is a deep chocolate - nearly black - shade of brown. This blackbuck is posed with and alert expression, its head up and turned slightly to its right. Given its stunning beauty and incredible craftsmanship, we feel this mount has earned a taxidermy quality rating of Premier.

The blackbuck, also known as the Indian antelope, is an antelope found in India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The blackbuck is the sole extant member of the genus Antilope. The species was described and given its binomial name by Swedish zoologist Carl Linnaeus in 1758. Two subspecies are recognized.
