This beautifully hand carved and skin-wrapped African drum will make an excellent addition to your collection of African artifacts or as a decorative item in your African themed room. The top and bottom skins appear to be waterbuck, while the center skin is most likely that of an impala. This drum was mostly likely used in a ceremonial capacity in its native African society. We have given this beautiful piece our quality rating of Excellent.

About the Ashiko Drum
The ashiko drum is shaped like a tapered cylinder (or truncated cone) with the head on the wide end, and the narrow end open. It is made of hardwood and generally has a goatskin hide. It is played with the hands, and tuned by ropes. Ashiko drums – or variants thereof – are traditionally found in West Africa, as well as part of the Americas.
