Scientific Name: Alcelaphus lichtensteinii
Lichtenstein's hartebeest is a subspecies of the hartebeest antelope that dwells in savannahs and floodplains of Southeastern-Central Africa. It is sometimes classified as a unique species, Sigmoceros lichtensteinii. It derives its name from zoologist Martin Lichtenstein.
